The Palma device like TPS65913 have the mode mask which is also
used for enable/disable the rails. The mode bits are defined as
00: OFF
01: AUTO
10: ECO
11: Forced PWM
and modes are set accordingly as
REGULATOR_MODE_NORMAL: AUTO
REGULATOR_MODE_IDLE: ECO
REGULATOR_MODE_FAST: PWM
Two issue observed:
1. If client calls following sequence:
regulator_enable(),
regulator_set_mode(FAST),
regulator_disable()
and again the regulator_enable() then the mode is reset
to NORMAL inplace of keeping the mode as FAST.
Fixing this by storing the current mode configured by client
and restoring modes when enable() is called after disable().
2. In following sequence, the regulator get enabled:
regulator_disable()
regulator_set_mode(FAST),
Fixing this by updating new mode in register only if it is
enabled.

Currently Palma regulator driver support the ramp delay
through rail specific platform data.
As regulator framework support the configuration of ramp
delay through regulator constraint, using the framework
method and removing the platform specific data approach.

LDO8 of Palma device like tps65913 support the tracking mode
on which LDO8 track the SMPS45 voltage when SMPS45 is ON
and use the LDO8.VOLTAGE_SEL register when SMPS45 is OFF.
On track mode, the steps of voltage change for LDO8 is 25mV
where in non-tracking mode it is 50mV. Set the steps accordingly.
Number of voltage count is still same for both the cases.

Palmas device have control outputs like REGEN1, REGEN2, REGEN3,
SYSEN1 and SYSEN2. These control outputs can be used for controlling
external voltage switches to enabled/disable voltage outputs.
Add support of these control outputs through regulator framework.

if need be:

Regulator platform data is now passed though a single structure
as opposed to the old way where four separate struct elements
were required. This patch makes use of the new format.

Help mitigate against mechanical bounce during the initial detection by
allowing the configuration of an additional debounce on top of that the
hardware does during the initial phase of microphone detection operation.

Rather than measuring both HP channels we can simply directly measure the
microphone impedance and then rely on MICDET for final confirmation of the
presence of a suitable microphone. This improves the overall performance
of the identification process.

The Arizona button detection circuit is configurable, allowing the system
integrator to program a range of thresholds for the buttons supported on
the accessory but currently the driver uses the default button ranges and
does not provide any flexibility in how this is exposed to the application
layer.
Provide platform data allowing the user to control this and to map
the buttons to keys in the input subsystem.

Running HPDET while the headphone outputs are enabled can disrupt the
operation of HPDET. In order to avoid this HPDET needs to disable the
headphone outputs and ASoC needs to not enable them while HPDET is
running.
Do the ASoC side of this by storing the enable state in the core driver
structure and only writing to the device if a flag indicating that the
accessory detection side is in a state where it can have the headphone
output stage enabled.

Currently driver sets the irq type to IRQF_TRIGGER_LOW which is
causing interrupt registration failure in ARM based SoCs as:

Provide the irq flags through platform data if device is registered
through board file or get the irq type from DT node property in place

Also configure the device to generate the interrupt signal according to
flag type.

TI LP8788 PMU supports regulators, battery charger, RTC, ADC, backlight
dri= ver and current sinks. This patch enables LP8788 backlight module.
(Brightness mode)
The brightness is controlled by PWM input or I2C register.
All modes are supported in the driver.
(Platform data)
Configurable data can be defined in the platform side.
name : backlight driver name. (default: "lcd-backlight")
initial_brightness : initial value of backlight brightness
bl_mode : brightness control by PWM or lp8788 register
dim_mode : dimming mode selection
full_scale : full scale current setting
rise_time : brightness ramp up step time
fall_time : brightness ramp down step time
pwm_pol : PWM polarity setting when bl_mode is PWM based
period_ns : platform specific PWM period value. unit is nano.
The default values are set in case no platform data is defined.

Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann:
"A large number of cleanups, all over the platforms. This is dominated
largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the
others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems.
The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point
where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even
specify the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device
tree as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes
basically touch every single platform in the process.
We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here,
with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being
"multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose their
headers to architecture independent code any more.
It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup.
The overall reduction in total code lines is mostly the result of
removing broken and obsolete code."

The driver adds poweroff functionality for QNAP NAS boxes
- restart-poweroff:
A generic driver that implements 'power off by restarting'. The
actual poweroff functionality is implemented through a bootloader,
so Linux' task is just to restart the box. The driver is useful on
Buffalo Linkstation LS-XHL and LS-CHLv2 boards. Andrew Lunn worked
on submitting the driver (as well as qnap-poweroff above).

Fix up fairly straightforward conflicts in the ab8500 driver. But since
it seems to be ARM-specific, I can't even compile-test the result..
Pull pinctrl changes from Linus Walleij:
"These are the main pinctrl changes for the v3.9 merge window. The
most interesting change by far is how the device core grabs pinctrl
default handles avoiding the need to stick boilerplate into driver
consumers.
- Grabbing of default pinctrl handles from the device core. These
are the hunks hitting drivers/base. All is ACKed by Greg, after a
long discussion about different alternatives.
- Some stuff also touches the MFD and ARM SoC trees, this has been
coordinated and ACKed.
- New drivers for:
- The Tegra 114 sub-SoC
- Allwinner sunxi
- New ABx500 driver and sub-SoC drivers for AB8500, AB8505, AB9540
and AB8540.
- Make it possible for hogged pins to enter a sleep mode, and make it
possible for drivers to control that mode.
- Various clean-up, extensions and device tree support to various pin
controllers."

Realtek card reader supports both SD and MS card. According to the
settings of rtsx MFD driver, SD host will be probed before MS host.
If we boot/reboot Linux with SD card inserted, the resetting flow of SD
card will succeed, and the following resetting flow of MS is sure to fail.
Then MS upper-level driver will ask rtsx driver to turn power off. This
request leads to the result that the following SD commands fail and SD card
can't be accessed again.
In this commit, Realtek's SD and MS host driver will check whether the card
that upper driver requesting is the one existing in the slot. If not, Realtek's
host driver will refuse the operation to make sure the exlusive accessing
at the same time.

Palmas register set is divided into different blocks (base and offset)
and hence different i2c addresses. The i2c address offsets are derived
from base address of block of registers.
Add inline APIs to access the Palma's registers which takes the base of
register block and register offset. The i2c address offset is derived
from the base address of register blocks.

This patch use delayed workqueue to check cable state after a certain
time. If extcon-max8997 driver check cable state during booting of
platform, this couldn't send the correct notification of cable state
to extcon consumer. Alwasys, this driver should check cable state
after the completion of platform initialization

This patch set default H/W line path according to platfomr data.
The MAX8997 MUIC device can possibly set UART/USB or UART_AUX
/USB_AUX to internal H/W line path of MUIC device. Namely, only
one H/W line is used for two operation.
For example,
if H/W line path of MAX8997 device set UART/USB, micro usb cable
is connected to AP(Application Processor) and if H/W line path
set UART_AUX/USB_AUX, micro usb cable is connected to CP(Coprocessor).

This patch make max8997_muic_get_cable_type() function to remove
duplicate code for checking ADC/Charger cable type because almost
internal function need to read adc/chg_type value of MUIC register.
Also, remove *_detach() function, extcon-max8997 driver treat
attach/detach operation of cable in max8997_*_handler() function.
Lastly, this patch move defined constant in header file(include/
linux/mfd/max8997.h, max8997-private.h) because defined constant
is only used in the 'extcon-max8997.c'.

This patch set default of ADC Debounce Time(25ms) during probe step.
Also, can possible change ADC Debounce Time according to H/W situation
by using max8997_set_adc_debounce_time()
