Added early param "pcp_thp_order", which specifies the order of pcp used by THP.
This allows vendors to customize the order different from HPAGE_PMD_ORDER for
THP to use.

As the message of the commit 09e6b306f3ba ("arm64: cpufeature: discover
CPU support for MPAM") already states, if a buggy firmware fails to
either enable MPAM or emulate the trap as if it were disabled, the
kernel will just fail to boot. While upgrading the firmware should be
the best solution, we have some hardware of which the vendor have made
no response 2 months after we requested a firmware update. Allow
overriding it so our devices don't become some e-waste.

Change the default value of spectre v2 in user mode to respect the
CONFIG_MITIGATION_SPECTRE_V2 config option.
Currently, user mode spectre v2 is set to auto
(SPECTRE_V2_USER_CMD_AUTO) by default, even if
CONFIG_MITIGATION_SPECTRE_V2 is disabled.
Set the spectre_v2 value to auto (SPECTRE_V2_USER_CMD_AUTO) if the
Spectre v2 config (CONFIG_MITIGATION_SPECTRE_V2) is enabled, otherwise
set the value to none (SPECTRE_V2_USER_CMD_NONE).
Important to say the command line argument "spectre_v2_user" overwrites
the default value in both cases.
When CONFIG_MITIGATION_SPECTRE_V2 is not set, users have the flexibility
to opt-in for specific mitigations independently. In this scenario,
setting spectre_v2= will not enable spectre_v2_user=, and command line
options spectre_v2_user and spectre_v2 are independent when
CONFIG_MITIGATION_SPECTRE_V2=n.

commit facd226f7e0c8ca936ac114aba43cb3e8b94e41e upstream.
When retpoline mitigation is enabled for spectre-v2, enabling
call-depth-tracking and RSB stuffing also mitigates ITS. Add cmdline option
indirect_target_selection=stuff to allow enabling RSB stuffing mitigation.
When retpoline mitigation is not enabled, =stuff option is ignored, and
default mitigation for ITS is deployed.

commit 2665281a07e19550944e8354a2024635a7b2714a upstream.
Ice Lake generation CPUs are not affected by guest/host isolation part of
ITS. If a user is only concerned about KVM guests, they can now choose a
new cmdline option "vmexit" that will not deploy the ITS mitigation when
CPU is not affected by guest/host isolation. This saves the performance
overhead of ITS mitigation on Ice Lake gen CPUs.
When "vmexit" option selected, if the CPU is affected by ITS guest/host
isolation, the default ITS mitigation is deployed.

commit f4818881c47fd91fcb6d62373c57c7844e3de1c0 upstream.
Indirect Target Selection (ITS) is a bug in some pre-ADL Intel CPUs with
eIBRS. It affects prediction of indirect branch and RETs in the
lower half of cacheline. Due to ITS such branches may get wrongly predicted
to a target of (direct or indirect) branch that is located in the upper
half of the cacheline.
Scope of impact
===============
Guest/host isolation
--------------------
When eIBRS is used for guest/host isolation, the indirect branches in the
VMM may still be predicted with targets corresponding to branches in the
guest.
Intra-mode
----------
cBPF or other native gadgets can be used for intra-mode training and
disclosure using ITS.
User/kernel isolation
---------------------
When eIBRS is enabled user/kernel isolation is not impacted.
Indirect Branch Prediction Barrier (IBPB)
-----------------------------------------
After an IBPB, indirect branches may be predicted with targets
corresponding to direct branches which were executed prior to IBPB. This is
mitigated by a microcode update.
Add cmdline parameter indirect_target_selection=off|on|force to control the
mitigation to relocate the affected branches to an ITS-safe thunk i.e.
located in the upper half of cacheline. Also add the sysfs reporting.
When retpoline mitigation is deployed, ITS safe-thunks are not needed,
because retpoline sequence is already ITS-safe. Similarly, when call depth
tracking (CDT) mitigation is deployed (retbleed=stuff), ITS safe return
thunk is not used, as CDT prevents RSB-underflow.
To not overcomplicate things, ITS mitigation is not supported with
spectre-v2 lfence;jmp mitigation. Moreover, it is less practical to deploy
lfence;jmp mitigation on ITS affected parts anyways.

Patch series "fs/proc/task_mmu: add guard region bit to pagemap".
Currently there is no means of determining whether a given page in a
mapping range is designated a guard region (as installed via madvise()
using the MADV_GUARD_INSTALL flag).
This is generally not an issue, but in some instances users may wish to
determine whether this is the case.
This series adds this ability via /proc/$pid/pagemap, updates the
documentation and adds a self test to assert that this functions
correctly.
This patch (of 2):
Currently there is no means by which users can determine whether a given
page in memory is in fact a guard region, that is having had the
MADV_GUARD_INSTALL madvise() flag applied to it.
This is intentional, as to provide this information in VMA metadata would
contradict the intent of the feature (providing a means to change fault
behaviour at a page table level rather than a VMA level), and would
require VMA metadata operations to scan page tables, which is
unacceptable.
In many cases, users have no need to reflect and determine what regions
have been designated guard regions, as it is the user who has established
them in the first place.
But in some instances, such as monitoring software, or software that
relies upon being able to ascertain the nature of mappings within a remote
process for instance, it becomes useful to be able to determine which
pages have the guard region marker applied.
This patch makes use of an unused pagemap bit (58) to provide this
information.
This patch updates the documentation at the same time as making the change
such that the implementation of the feature and the documentation of it
are tied together.

Commit ae1f3db006 ("ata: ahci: do not enable LPM on external ports")
changed so that LPM is not enabled on external ports (hotplug-capable or
eSATA ports).
This is because hotplug and LPM are mutually exclusive, see 7.3.1 Hot Plug
Removal Detection and Power Management Interaction in AHCI 1.3.1.
This does require that firmware has set the appropate bits (HPCP or ESP)
in PxCMD (which is a per port register in the AHCI controller).
If the firmware has failed to mark a port as hotplug-capable or eSATA in
PxCMD, then there is currently not much a user can do.
If LPM is enabled on the port, hotplug insertions and removals will not be
detected on that port.
In order to allow a user to fix up broken firmware, add 'external' to the
libata.force kernel parameter.
libata.force can be specified either on the kernel command line, or as a
kernel module parameter.
For more information, see Documentation/admin-guide/kernel-parameters.txt.

Calling verity_verify_io in bh for IO of all sizes is not suitable for
embedded devices. From our tests, it can improve the performance of 4K
synchronise random reads.
For example:
./fio --name=rand_read --ioengine=psync --rw=randread --bs=4K \
--direct=1 --numjobs=8 --runtime=60 --time_based --group_reporting \
--filename=/dev/block/mapper/xx-verity
But it will degrade the performance of 512K synchronise sequential reads
on our devices.
For example:
./fio --name=read --ioengine=psync --rw=read --bs=512K --direct=1 \
--numjobs=8 --runtime=60 --time_based --group_reporting \
--filename=/dev/block/mapper/xx-verity
A parameter array is introduced by this change. And users can modify the
default config by /sys/module/dm_verity/parameters/use_bh_bytes.
The default limits for NONE/RT/BE is set to 8192.
The default limits for IDLE is set to 0.
Call verity_verify_io directly when verity_end_io is not in hardirq.

Commit 779dbc2e78 ("printk: Avoid non-panic CPUs writing to ringbuffer")
aimed to isolate panic-related messages. However, when panic() itself
malfunctions, messages from non-panic CPUs become crucial for debugging.
While commit bcc954c6ca ("printk/panic: Allow cpu backtraces to
be written into ringbuffer during panic") enables non-panic CPU
backtraces, it may not provide sufficient diagnostic information.
Introduce the "debug_non_panic_cpus" command-line option, enabling
non-panic CPU messages to be stored in the ring buffer during a panic.
This also prevents discarding non-finalized messages from non-panic CPUs
during console flushing, providing a more comprehensive view of system
state during critical failures.

[ Upstream commit 39ec9eaaa165d297d008d1fa385748430bd18e4d ]
The sorting of VMAs by size in commit 7d442a33bf ("binfmt_elf: Dump
smaller VMAs first in ELF cores") breaks elfutils[1]. Instead, sort
based on the setting of the new sysctl, core_sort_vma, which defaults
to 0, no sorting.

We currently reserve enough memory for pKVM to construct a stage-1
page-table that maps all of memory at page granularity. However, in
practice the amount of memory actually mapped into EL2 stage-1 is quite
small as it mainly consists of the hypervisor itself and guest metadata
(kvm, kvm_vcpu and related, plus stage-2 page-tables).
To avoid the waste, introduce a new kernel cmdline parameter that
defines how much memory can be mapped in total into the hypervisor
linear map at any point in time. This value should be set conservatively,
as allocation failures in the hypervisor are likely to be fatal.

[ Upstream commit 30dac24e14b52e1787572d1d4e06eeabe8a63630 ]
Most of the callers of wbc_account_cgroup_owner() are converting a folio
to page before calling the function. wbc_account_cgroup_owner() is
converting the page back to a folio to call mem_cgroup_css_from_folio().
Convert wbc_account_cgroup_owner() to take a folio instead of a page,
and convert all callers to pass a folio directly except f2fs.
Convert the page to folio for all the callers from f2fs as they were the
only callers calling wbc_account_cgroup_owner() with a page. As f2fs is
already in the process of converting to folios, these call sites might
also soon be calling wbc_account_cgroup_owner() with a folio directly in
the future.
No functional changes. Only compile tested.

Both recompress and writeback soon will unlock slots during processing,
which makes things too complex wrt possible race-conditions. We still
want to clear PP_SLOT in slot_free, because this is how we figure out that
slot that was selected for post-processing has been released under us and
when we start post-processing we check if slot still has PP_SLOT set. At
the same time, theoretically, we can have something like this:
CPU0 CPU1
recompress
scan slots
set PP_SLOT
unlock slot
slot_free
clear PP_SLOT
allocate PP_SLOT
writeback
scan slots
set PP_SLOT
unlock slot
select PP-slot
test PP_SLOT
So recompress will not detect that slot has been re-used and re-selected
for concurrent writeback post-processing.
Make sure that we only permit on post-processing operation at a time. So
now recompress and writeback post-processing don't race against each
other, we only need to handle slot re-use (slot_free and write), which is
handled individually by each pp operation.
Having recompress and writeback competing for the same slots is not
exactly good anyway (can't imagine anyone doing that).

kvm-arm.protected_modules="" takes a list of modules that pKVM will load
before de-privileging the host. This is necessary as no loading will be
allowed later.
We can't rely on request_module() that might be disabled by umh's
configuration. Instead, create our own version, locked by the pKVM/KVM
static keys and marked as __init to be cleared once the kernel init is
done. Belt and braces.
Keep the previous kvm-arm.protected_modules for compatibility.

When the proportion of folios from the zeromap is small, missing their
accounting may not significantly impact profiling. However, it's easy to
construct a scenario where this becomes an issue—for example, allocating
1 GB of memory, writing zeros from userspace, followed by MADV_PAGEOUT,
and then swapping it back in. In this case, the swap-out and swap-in
counts seem to vanish into a black hole, potentially causing semantic
ambiguity.
On the other hand, Usama reported that zero-filled pages can exceed 10% in
workloads utilizing zswap, while Hailong noted that some app in Android
have more than 6% zero-filled pages. Before commit 0ca0c24e32 ("mm:
store zero pages to be swapped out in a bitmap"), both zswap and zRAM
implemented similar optimizations, leading to these optimized-out pages
being counted in either zswap or zRAM counters (with pswpin/pswpout also
increasing for zRAM). With zeromap functioning prior to both zswap and
zRAM, userspace will no longer detect these swap-out and swap-in actions.
We have three ways to address this:
1. Introduce a dedicated counter specifically for the zeromap.
2. Use pswpin/pswpout accounting, treating the zero map as a standard
backend. This approach aligns with zRAM's current handling of
same-page fills at the device level. However, it would mean losing the
optimized-out page counters previously available in zRAM and would not
align with systems using zswap. Additionally, as noted by Nhat Pham,
pswpin/pswpout counters apply only to I/O done directly to the backend
device.
3. Count zeromap pages under zswap, aligning with system behavior when
zswap is enabled. However, this would not be consistent with zRAM, nor
would it align with systems lacking both zswap and zRAM.
Given the complications with options 2 and 3, this patch selects
option 1.
We can find these counters from /proc/vmstat (counters for the whole
system) and memcg's memory.stat (counters for the interested memcg).
For example:
$ grep -E 'swpin_zero|swpout_zero' /proc/vmstat
swpin_zero 1648
swpout_zero 33536
$ grep -E 'swpin_zero|swpout_zero' /sys/fs/cgroup/system.slice/memory.stat
swpin_zero 3905
swpout_zero 3985
This patch does not address any specific zeromap bug, but the missing
swpout and swpin counts for zero-filled pages can be highly confusing and
may mislead user-space agents that rely on changes in these counters as
indicators. Therefore, we add a Fixes tag to encourage the inclusion of
this counter in any kernel versions with zeromap.
Many thanks to Kanchana for the contribution of changing
count_objcg_event() to count_objcg_events() to support large folios[1],
which has now been incorporated into this patch.

If we add ``thp_anon=32,64K:always`` to the kernel command line, we
will see the following error:
[ 0.000000] huge_memory: thp_anon=32,64K:always: error parsing string, ignoring setting
This happens because the correct format isn't ``thp_anon=<size>,<size>[KMG]:<state>```,
as [KMG] must follow each number to especify its unit. So, the correct
format is ``thp_anon=<size>[KMG],<size>[KMG]:<state>```.
Therefore, adjust the documentation to reflect the correct format of the
parameter ``thp_anon=``.

The current policy management makes it impossible to use IPE
in a general purpose distribution. In such cases the users are not
building the kernel, the distribution is, and access to the private
key included in the trusted keyring is, for obvious reason, not
available.
This means that users have no way to enable IPE, since there will
be no built-in generic policy, and no access to the key to sign
updates validated by the trusted keyring.
Just as we do for dm-verity, kernel modules and more, allow the
secondary and platform keyrings to also validate policies. This
allows users enrolling their own keys in UEFI db or MOK to also
sign policies, and enroll them. This makes it sensible to enable
IPE in general purpose distributions, as it becomes usable by
any user wishing to do so. Keys in these keyrings can already
load kernels and kernel modules, so there is no security
downgrade.
Add a kconfig each, like dm-verity does, but default to enabled if
the dependencies are available.

Currently IPE accepts an update that has the same version as the policy
being updated, but it doesn't make it a no-op nor it checks that the
old and new policyes are the same. So it is possible to change the
content of a policy, without changing its version. This is very
confusing from userspace when managing policies.
Instead change the update logic to reject updates that have the same
version with ESTALE, as that is much clearer and intuitive behaviour.

ZONE_DMA32 is enabled by default, yet it is not
needed for all devices, nor is it desirable to have if not needed. For
instance, if a partner in GKI 1.0 did not use ZONE_DMA32, memory can
be lower for ZONE_NORMAL relative to older targets, such that memory
would run out more quickly in ZONE_NORMAL leading kswapd to be invoked
unnecessarily.
Correspondingly, provide a means of making ZONE_DMA32 empty via the
kernel command line when it is compiled in via CONFIG_ZONE_DMA32.
P.S. The following two patches are squashed into this one,
1. bf96382 ("ANDROID: dma-direct: Make DMA32 disablement work for CONFIG_NUMA")
2. 135406c ("ANDROID: dma-direct: Document disable_dma32")
Additionally, for kernels 6.6+, ensure that arm64_dma_phys_limit
is set correctly by letting it be set to the highest possible
physical address when disable_dma32 is present on the kernel
command line.
This allows SWIOTLB allocations to be satisfied from anywhere within
the physical memory space, as opposed to restricting these
allocations to the lower 32-bit addressable physical memory space.
It is important that SWIOTLB allocations use the correct addressing
limits, as SWIOTLB buffers can now be allocated at runtime--not just
boot. Using the correct addressing limits can help increase the amount
of memory available for SWIOTLB allocations, increasing the likelihood
of success.
This also aligns the behavior of disable_dma32 to what would happen if
CONFIG_ZONE_DMA32 were disabled.
